We do not belong to this material world

The problem with this material existence is we don’t belong to this material world. For this, the classic example   Srila Prabhupada gives is fish out of water. For us being in water is unnatural situation but for fish it is natural. You take fish out of water and give him all material things like computer, television, sun glasses, fantastic amenities etc., he is not going to be happy. What will make him happy is when he goes back in to the water. Similarly, with us we don’t belong here, it is the unnatural atmosphere or habitat for us. So, how do we get here to this material world? If we know how we came here, then we can know how to get out of here. So how we came here is by saying ‘No to Krishna’ or in other words according to the language of Srila Rupa Goswami he says bahir mukha jiva, by turning our face or our attention from Krishna. And the solution to the problem is not just managing the problem better it is to turn our attention to Krishna, so its the best way to deal with circumstances along the path we are undergoing in life. When unexpected difficulty arises we have to keep our relationship with Krishna right in front of our consciousness and then you can consider what is appropriate for the circumstance in service to Krishna, because our position in relation to Krishna is we are His servants.
